Guinness in Spain.

Apparently kegs of Guinness are not popular in Spain. Maybe it's not quite the place for the keg-drinking culture. Maybe it's the taste of Guinness that the Cruzcampo-affeccionados are not quite accustomed to. Maybe it's not quite a good enough pairing for the tapas lifestyle - although a pint of Guinness would be a pretty hearty tapa in itself.

Guinness is not drunk enough in Spain for the amount of Guinness drinks poured from a keg to make it worthwhile. The solution? The Guinness Surger.

Cans of thick solid-black Guinness are poured into a pint glass, set onto an electronic device that vibrates, sending ultrasonic waves through the dark drink, and therefore recreating the trademark "surge and settle" effect that develops the garnishing white foam that is so famously characteristic of the Irish favourite.  It sounds like quite the genius marketing idea to solve the problem of not wasting an entire keg of Guinness.
It's quite clever. But it tastes disgusting.
Stick to Cruzcampo, Sherry, Rioja, Sangria....(but maybe not a callimocho)
